I take serious issue with the stance by many of my elders that my generation is lazy, entitled and spoiled. Even my fellow 20-somethings are (ineffectively) jumping on the generalization bandwagon (read the comments). I understand why you older folks may have this misconception. We’re the demographic propelling The Hills into popularity, worshiping celebrities and texting every second of the day, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for us.
However, if you’re relying on mainstream TV, 60 minutes, local news and the senior citizen next to you as your source of young people news (or any news), then you need to put down your AARP newsletter and find some younger friends and sources.
I don’t appreciate the criticisms, especially when they’re coming from former pot-smoking, tie-dye wearing, war-protesting, 60 year-old, burned out hippies. Are you picking up on the irony?
I get that you didn’t have computers and fancy tech gadgets growing up, that you walked to school in two feet of snow, uphill, both ways. But we have it better than you did, and that’s a credit to your generation. And you had it better than your parents. And my future kids will have it better than I did. That’s the way human progress works. Our generation is not going to cause a regression in human evolution, destroy democracy or blow up the world. Let’s worry about your generation doing that first.
We’re also not the generation that includes George Bush (nor did we elect him…twice), Bernie Madoff or Bill O’Reily. Not a fair slice of wrinkly, aged pie? Then quit citing Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan as our generational representatives, it’s just as misleading and insulting.
Furthermore, and I’m not one for excuses, but you’re the genius’ who raised us. So if we’re as impatient and narcissistic as you let on, well, blame yourself. You made your bed, now take your Ambient at 8 p.m. and sleep in it.
My parents have busted their asses to give me the opportunity I have today and I’m incredibly thankful. But you better believe that I’m busting my ass to assure the same for my future kids.
Relax, old people, everything’s going to be okay.
Trust me

A good, and quite frankly true, to an extent. Nearly everything within life has a good and dark side to it, including Humans, specifically, Human generations. Every generation has hardworking, valuable people and at the same time, narcissistic people like you have stated. Some older generations are good, some are bad, the exact same goes for young people.
